Parking in the East Baltimore campus garages will be free for all JHMI staff and students on the following holidays for the remainder of 1997:

In response to requests from students, the Milton S. Eisenhower Library will be open 24 hours a day during reading period and exams, from 8 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, through 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19. Circulation and Reserves will close each day after extended hours, Sunday to Thursday, midnight to 2 a.m., Friday and Saturday, 10 p.m. to midnight.

The National Science Foundation is offering special Facilitation Awards for scientists and engineers with disabilities. These awards are intended to reduce or remove barriers to participation in research and training for physically disabled individuals by providing special equipment and assistance under awards made by NSF; and to encourage disabled individuals to pursue careers in science and engineering by stimulating the development and demonstration of special equipment that facilitates work performance.

Awards support special equipment or assistance necessary to enable a physically disabled individual to conduct or participate in a specific NSF-supported project in science/engineering, research or education, including fellowships. Principal investigators and other senior personnel, postdoctoral associates and other professionals, and graduate and undergraduate students are eligible.

The Whiting School of Engineering and the School of Hygiene and Public Health will represent Johns Hopkins at the third annual Maryland Technology Showcase. The event will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 3, and Thursday, Dec. 4, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Baltimore Convention Center. "Sadness in Late Life: When to Call the Doctor" is the title of a talk by Robert Roca, director of geriatric services at Sheppard Pratt, scheduled to take place on Tuesday, Dec. 2, from 7 to 9 p.m., in the Conference Center at Sheppard Pratt Hospital. Time will be allowed for questions and answers, and there is no charge to attend. The educational program is sponsored by the Depression and Related Affective Disorders Association (DRADA), in cooperation with the School of Medicine, and co-sponsored by Sheppard Pratt Hospital.
