Laureano Moro-Velazquez received the M.Sc. degree in telecommunications engineering and the Ph.D. degree with honors at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), Spain. There, he has worked in several scientific projects collaborating with neurologists and otolaryngologists at Hospital Gregorio Marañón and Hospital de Fuenlabrada to provide new diagnosis tools for organic and neurological diseases employing speech processing and machine learning technologies. During this period, he has been granted with several awards including the best academic record award at UPM and the RTTH best paper award given by the Spanish Excellence Network on Speech Technology.

He is currently an assistant research scientist with Prof. Najim Dehak at the Center for Language and Speech Processing at Johns Hopkins University where he collaborates with neurologists from the Johns Hopkins Hospital to analyze new systems to support the diagnosis of several neurodegenerative conditions. His research interests include speech signal processing and machine learning technologies with biomedical applications.
