School of Medicine gets its first faculty lounge, set in
BRB's glass bridge

With space at a premium on the medical campus, after
teaching, research and patient care needs are fulfilled,
there is typically scant room left over for anything else,
says Janice Clements, vice dean for faculty affairs at the
School of Medicine. As a colleague once told Clements, the
East Baltimore campus is an "amenity-free zone."

Homewood Art Workshops at 30
Craig Hankin, director of the Homewood Art
Workshops, said the now 30-year-old program he oversees
remains faithful to its "bread-and-butter" courses:
painting, drawing, photography and sculpture. Yet, take a
glance at the program's course catalog, or stroll down the
halls of the Mattin Center, and it's evident that there is
more bread-and-butter to go around these days — and
various other morsels on the menu.
