Farewell to the class of 2006
Universitywide morning ceremony followed by
undergrad celebration

Few occasions can elicit joy, sadness, relief, nerves and
exhilaration — and all that in just a 60-second
period. Graduation is such an occasion, and a full rainbow
of emotions was on display Thursday, May 25, as the
university honored and said farewell to the class of
2006.

JHU is first in R&D for 26th year
The Johns Hopkins University performed $1.375 billion
in science, medical and engineering research in fiscal year
2004, making it — by nearly 44 percent — the
leading U.S. academic institution in total R&D spending for
the 26th year in a row, according to a new National Science
Foundation ranking.

Scholarships
Four students from Johns Hopkins — Ying-Ying
Wang, Katherine Villa, Wenqian Wang and Kevin Chen —
are among the 323 undergraduates who have been awarded
Goldwater Scholarships for the 2006-2007 academic year.
