Each year, hundreds of Johns Hopkins undergraduates temporarily trade in Homewood campus life for an enriching, perhaps once-in-a-lifetime experience in a foreign country. Now they have some extra support and quality control for that academic jaunt overseas.

Researchers at Johns Hopkins have evidence to explain why the supposedly natural act of aging is by itself a very potent risk factor for life-threatening heart failure.

CT scans: Not a bad choice to test clogged arteries
A study by an international team of cardiac imaging specialists, led by researchers at Johns Hopkins, concludes that sophisticated computed tomography scans of the heart and its surrounding arteries are almost as reliable and accurate as more invasive procedures to check for blockages.
