Peabody students take their talents to venues helping those
in need

Music can break down barriers, whether they're
emotional or physical. It just needs to be
heard. Since 2004, Peabody's Creative Access has brought
the world of music to audiences in the
Baltimore area that otherwise might not be exposed to
it.

World AIDS struggle still
staggers
Every Dec. 1, people around the globe fasten red
ribbons to shirts, jackets, hats and all manner
of visible attire. The symbolic gesture serves to
commemorate World AIDS Day, the now 19-year-old
occasion that was created to focus attention on the
devastating impact of the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

Obese? Prostate cancer tests may be less
effective
The extra blood volume produced in the obese may so dilute
levels of a telltale protein produced
by prostates that the popular PSA test may be essentially
useless for diagnosing prostate cancer in
men carrying extra pounds, a new study in The Journal of
the American Medical Association suggests.
