![]() All of which has made my decision to step down now as editor a very difficult one. But it's one I make with optimism and a spirit of adventure. By the time this issue lands in your mailbox, I'll be launched on a new chapter, tentatively titled "In Pursuit of the Elusive Work/Life Balance." Over the past several years, I've helped launch several magazines within the university (the latest, the new Peabody Magazine, will premiére in September). By continuing my editorial involvement with these and other publications, I'm hoping to gain some flexibility and bring a sense of sanity to my marriage and family life — which seems to have gotten exponentially more hectic now that Ben, Matt, and Daniel (10, 8, and 3) are swept up in an endless whirl of baseball practices, drama rehearsals, soccer tryouts, homework, and field trips. Here's hoping this new arrangement will result in clean socks for all, an end to carry-in dinners — and my continued commitment to editorial excellence at Johns Hopkins. I leave with the magazine in the able hands of interim editor Catherine Pierre, and a heartfelt sense of gratitude to you all. -Sue De Pasquale |
