Homewood and Peabody Staff Recognition Event

Johns Hopkins Gazette Online Edition

In the second of eight receptions being held this spring to recognize staff celebrating anniversaries with the university, 219 guests from the Peabody and Homewood campuses were recognized for five, 10 or 15 years of service at an event held March 29 in the Glass Pavilion on the Homewood campus.

The 36 members celebrating 15 years received cherry clocks; the 69 celebrating 10 years, crystal paperweights; and the 114 celebrating five, pewter keychains. Together, the group represented 1,800 years of service.

After Audrey Smith, vice president for human resources, made introductory remarks, Jerry Schnydman, executive assistant to the president, presented a five-year award to Smith and a 10-year award to Dennis O'Shea, executive director of Communications and Public Affairs.

Provost Steven Knapp then gave awards to Peabody director Bob Sirota for five years, Arts and Sciences dean Richard McCarty for 10 and dean of students Susan Boswell for 15.

Staff members celebrating 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 years will be honored at a dinner on May 22.
