The Johns Hopkins
Military Science Department's ROTC Ranger Challenge team
competed
against teams from 17 colleges in this year's Brigade Ranger
Challenge competition, held the weekend
of Oct. 26 at Fort A.P. Hill, Va., and came home with a
championship. The numerous events in which the
team competed included a physical fitness test, team
orienteering, M16 weapons qualification, one-
rope bridge construction and a 10K road march.
"The cadets performed magnificently," said Master Sgt. Mark
S. Butera of Johns Hopkins'
Military Science Department. "Our cadets and ROTC program are
ranked at the very top in terms of
performance and overall standings throughout the nation."
The 10 members representing the Blue Jay Battalion were team
captain Alex Johnson, Joseph
Henderson, Andrew Garcia, Peter Kavanagh, Jill McDonald, John
Garcia and Eli Peller, all of Johns
Hopkins; and, from UMBC, Sean Ashby, Andy Kwon and Sean
Sniegowski.
In the past six years, Johns Hopkins' Ranger Challenge teams
have won their division four times,
in 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2007.
