Fireworks over Homewood
Dedication marks the completion of major construction project


Pyrotechnics put a fitting finish on an evening that brought 800 friends of Johns Hopkins together to celebrate the Decker Quadrangle, Mason Hall and the Computational Science and Engineering Building. A tent, left, housed guests for dinner.

More than 800 students, faculty, alumni and friends attended a dinner on Oct. 27 to dedicate the Alonzo G. and Virginia G. Decker Quadrangle, Mason Hall and the Computational Science and Engineering Building, and to salute former chair of the university board of trustees Raymond A. "Chip" Mason.

KSAS: Center for Financial Economics
Seeking to blend the studies of economics and finance, Johns Hopkins has established the Center for Financial Economics, an innovative, comprehensive new program that ultimately will offer an undergraduate minor and major and train graduate students in financial economics, said Adam Falk, the James B. Knapp Dean of the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences.

New center created to manage digital scholarship
The Johns Hopkins Sheridan Libraries have announced the creation of the Digital Research and Curation Center to manage, preserve and provide access to the mounting digital scholarship generated by faculty and researchers at the university. No longer limited only to the sciences, the creation of data sets to support teaching and scholarship is becoming increasingly common in the humanities.
