Adam Riess of KSAS, dark energy discovery leader, shares Gruber Prize
Johns Hopkins astrophysicist Adam Riess, who led the first study revealing the existence of a mysterious "dark energy" permeating the universe, will share one of the most prestigious prizes in cosmology, it was announced last week.

Johns Hopkins adopts climate change in policy
The Oscar-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth and this summer's Live Earth concert may have raised public awareness of climate issues, but a growing number of scientists had already been sounding a call to arms to confront global warming through the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the development of more Earth-friendly technologies.

James E. West of WSE to receive Technology Medal at White House
James E. West, a Johns Hopkins engineering faculty member who co-invented the microphone used in most telephones and many other electronic devices worldwide, has been named a recipient of the nation's highest honor for technological innovation. In a statement released last week, President George W. Bush announced that West is one of five people who will receive the 2006 National Medal of Technology.
