Diversity

The Krieger School of Arts and Sciences and the Whiting School of Engineering is dedicated to increasing the diversity of our graduate student body to more accurately reflect the diversity of our society. We are committed to helping create an environment that is welcoming and respectful of graduate students from all backgrounds.

We view the goal of increasing diversity as directly related to creating the best quality academic programs for our students. Our graduate programs are dedicated to the world of ideas and that world expands exponentially as those with different experiences and points of view share their knowledge and interpretations with one another. Diversity increases the breadth and depth of a person’s education and is crucial to a full understanding of the world around us.

My best course was the Memory seminar.  This small and highly interactive reading group brought together excellent teachers. One professor’s talent for asking very thought-provoking questions elicited discussions which revealed amazing levels of expertise in various aspects of memory research from both the students and other professors.

Faculty members are very close-knit both in their professional interests and in their interactions with the students.  As graduate students we are able to collaborate and learn from many professors through these related areas of expertise.
