Cognitive Science

I interact with faculty on three levels––as teachers, as mentors, and as colleagues. Faculty in my department are excellent teachers and also excel as mentors. Their strongest attribute is that they are absolutely, undeniably rigorous when it comes to relating our work to theory. Everything we do is done in order to test or build theories of cognition and this means the link between our experiments/analyses and the theory must be clear. I value this so highly because it means the faculty are not satisfied with hand-wavy explanations or vague indications… everything must have clear roots in the theory we are trying to build or explain.
